Flirty Ponytail
Day Time
Pulling your hair back into a loose ponytail is a fun way to show off your natural beauty. Start with second-day hair. If your hair has just been washed, then spritz with texturizing spray to add volume and help your style last all day long. Next, use a fine-toothed comb to tease strands at the crown, adding extra height. The next step will depend on the texture of your natural hair. If you’re working with stick-straight strands, you’ll want to add some loose curls to give your pony that extra oomph. Use a wide barrel curling iron to curl 1-inch sections starting at ear height. If your hair has a natural wave or curls you can skip this step. Next, pull strands into a pony at the crown and secure with a clear elastic. Take a small section from your ponytail and wrap it around the base of your pony to hide the elastic. Secure with a bobby pin. Pull out some face-framing pieces and touch these up with the curling iron if needed.
Night Time
Quickly take your ponytail from the office to dinner and drinks with a few accessories. First, touch up any fallen curls and add a touch of hairspray to tame any flyaways. Add a satin or velvet ribbon in any hue and tie in a simple bow. This immediately elevates your look, taking it from simple to glamorous. Another option is to pop-in some shimmering bobby-pins. Not only does this add to your look but it’s also a practical way to secure any loose strands that may have fallen out throughout the day. Finish off with a touch of delicious smelling hair serum.
Romantic Curls
Day Time
Oversized curls are a romantic option for both day and night. Start with dry hair. Add a touch of dry shampoo to the roots and massage in with fingertips. Next, spray ends with thermal protectant spray to prevent damage while curling. Part hair slightly to one side for a more glamourous Hollywood feel. Curl one-inch sections away from the face with a wide barrel curling iron, starting with the bottom half of your hair. After wrapping each section around the barrel, hold for 10 to 15 seconds. Once done, allow curls to cool completely before running fingers through your strands. Finish off with lightweight hairspray to ensure your style will last all day and night.
Night Time
Having your hair already curled saves you tons of time — making the transition from your work commute to girl’s night that much simpler. There are a couple of easy ways to take this look from day to night. One option is to add some soft and sultry hair extensions for extra volume and length. While this is totally optional, it will definitely add drama to your look and make your hair look touchably soft. Another option is to add either a French or Dutch braid to one side and secure with a bobby pin. Start a small braid at the very top of your part. Working downwards, add additional hair to each of the three sections until you’ve reached your ear. Secure with a bobby pin and barrette. A similar option is to braid either side and secure at the centre of the back of your head. Carefully pull-apart braids to create additional volume and texture. Braids will add a little extra detail and draw attention to your face.
Sultry Side Bun
Day Time
A polished side bun is chic and practical for the office, but also sultry enough for date night. First, part your hair in the usual spot. Next, brush hair well to ensure it’s completely knot-free. Apply a small amount of smoothing serum to strands to prevent frizz. Pull strands into a low ponytail behind your ear and secure with a clear elastic. Backcomb your ponytail with a fine-toothed comb to add texture. Separate ponytail into two sections. Start by twisting the first and secure in a bun with multiple bobby pins to ensure it lasts all day. Do the same to the second section. Spritz the entire bun with hairspray. Don’t worry if a few strands fall, it’s meant to look perfectly imperfect.
Night Time
Just got back from the office? Time to loosen up that chignon. First, pull out some face-framing pieces. Use a wide barreled curling iron to curl strands away from the face, adding soft romance to the look. Loosen up your bun, giving it a more care-free feel. Spritz the nape of your neck with your favourite fragrance and you’re good to go. It’s that simple.
